    This was a great tutorial! I was able to print from Canva using your video. How can I adjust the size to print to my 4x6 labels? So far the image is only printing half the size of the label. Thanks again!

    • @joolieshome
      @joolieshome 2 дні тому

      I'm so glad you found it helpful! To adjust the size, double check that you've selected the right paper size ie. 4x6. If you've already selected the correct size but it's still printing on half the label, then you can play around with the "scale" of the image. 1.) If the file that you created in Canva is 4x6, you can select, "scale to fit" then to the right of it, select "print entire image" or "fill entire paper". Play around with both and you can see in the preview how it'll look. 2. If your Canva image isn't 4x6 (maybe a smaller size) then you can select "scale" and adjust the percentage up so it fills a larger part of your paper size ie. 110%, 120% adjust the % until you like how the image fills your paper. Hope that helps! Thank you so much for watching :)

      Hi! I believe I poured around 160F and yes, the acrylic mold did leave a glossy finish, but oddly, it was only glossy on certain parts. Sometimes it would be glossy on half the candle, not sure why

      oh thats actually a really creative idea! I haven't tried it so I'm not sure if it'd work. If you seal the two bottoms together then you could get a longer candle. The only thing is there would be a section that doesn't have the spiral. I might try it one day! Thanks for the idea :)

    Hello, it’s me again. I have a question. Since you figured out how much wax you need for each mold. how do you know how much fragrance oil you to add?

    • @joolieshome
      @joolieshome 15 днів тому

      Hi again! Great question! So if you want to be super accurate with your measurements with no waste, then here’s the formula (everything is in grams rounded to whole numbers): Wax amount needed = [Total weight of candle / (1 + Fragrance oil (%))] Eg. For the bubble candle (total weight of candle is 147g from my video) with 8% fragrance oil, it would look like this: Wax amount needed= [147g/ (1+ 0.08)] Wax amount needed is 136g Then to find the fragrance oil amount, you just subtract 136g from the total weight of the candle which is 147g. FO needed= 147-136 You’ll need 11g of FO for this candle if you use 8% fragrance load. An easier way is just taking 147g which is the total weight of the candle and multiplying it by your fragrance load %. You’ll have a bit left over with this method, but it’s a quick calculation. Eg. 147g x 0.08= 12g of fragrance oil (numbers vary slightly due to rounding) Here’s a chart for how much wax and fragrance oil you need based on 8% fragrance load. If you’d like help with a different fragrance percentage let me know and I’ll remake the chart for you :) total weight (g) FO (g) wax (g) bubble candle 147 11 136 mini bubble 36 3 33 body candle 84 6 78 small twist 88 7 81 cushioned cube 178 13 165 arch 239 18 221 rubiks cube 208 15 193 geometric pillar 66 5 61 u-shaped arch 144 11 133

    What do you use to seal? I made a hydrostone candle vessel and during testing it seaped through

    • @joolieshome
      @joolieshome Місяць тому

      I used Clarks natural wax in this video, but the company explained that their wax will begin to melt as temperatures climb over 100° and will become completely liquid by 180. I’m not sure how it will react with the wax & flame once melted. I’ll probably need to do more research/testing with it, but I didn’t notice any wax seeping out of the Jar during my burn test so that’s a good sign. I’m considering the Earth Safe Finishes sealer that many people recommend for their concrete jars. I’ll definitely post another video once I test it out :) Which sealer did you use for your hydrostone vessel?

      I use cement-all and demold after 3-4 hours. Then I wait a few day before sealing it. Hope that helps!

    Thank you for sharing your video! I'm a beginner at candle making. My pillar candles kept coming out with air bubbles and texture. I do have two questions. What temperature do you melt your wax? And How long do you keep the wax to stay warm when you switch it to insulation? I hope I can get some help.

    • @joolieshome
      @joolieshome Місяць тому

      Hi! Thank you so much for watching :) With the wax I used in this video, they recommend heating it to 180F. The temperature setting isn’t always accurate in my opinion and the wax can get too hot. I always set it slightly lower than the temp I want and if it’s not hot enough, I’ll slowly increase the temperature dial. Once it reaches the temperature I need, I manually adjust the dial so it switches to insulation mode. If it gets too hot I just turn off the melter and remove the lid. Just make sure you don't overheat the wax ie. over 200F. You’ll eventually get the hang of it and will know what temp to set your dial to for your specific wax :) Hope that helps!

    Hello Joolie! Thanks for sharing your experiments! Always looking lovely 💖 I still didn't get one thing. If I make a candle, can I use the Acrylic Sealer from Jesmonite for sealing inside of a jar?

    • @joolieshome
      @joolieshome Місяць тому

      Hello! Thank you so much for watching :) I appreciate your comment 💖 Sorry for the confusion. I’ve pasted the response from Madmayker regarding Jesmonite Acrylic sealer below. I’d recommend reaching out to them for more clarification, but based on their email, I don’t recommend using their sealer for the inside of candle jars. If it's just a decorative jar, it should work just fine :) “Jesmonite does not make a sealer that is rated for exposure to flame, though they are currently undertaking tests for this. We recommend sealing the outside of AC100 candle jars with Acrylic Sealer or Acrylic Gloss Sealer, but we do not, at this time, recommend sealing the inside with these materials. If you wish to seal the inside, it would be necessary to source an acrylic sealer that is specifically rated for exposure to flame.”

      @joolieshome thank you for the response! That's super interesting! I made couple candles with sealing inside walls with their Jesmonite Sealer and all was good. So, I was surprised to get this info.

      @joolieshome Місяць тому

      I was surprised to hear it too because I wanted to purchase it for my candle vessels! If you’ve done your own testing and research it could be safe to use. Sometimes we get conflicting information from different companies selling the same product. I’m not an expert in this area so I’m also just trying to figure it out as I go. Please update me if you have more information on it as well :)

      I used the Rustoleum matte clear sealant in the video, but it left an uneven finish. I've had better results with Mod Podge matte clear acrylic sealer. Heres the link to amazon :amzn.to/40j6YCN, but you can also purchase it at most craft stores. Thank you so much for watching!

    Hello dear can I ask you is it possible to use if to create a perfume cap/ cover ? I will use a sealer ! Would the alcohol in the perfume effect the jesmonite and melt it down ?

      hello! It sounds like a beautiful idea, but I'm not entirely sure how the alcohol would react with the sealer or the Jesmonite. I recommend reaching out to the company for more information. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Thank you so much for watching!

    Is this jesmonite?

    • @joolieshome
      @joolieshome 2 місяці тому

      Hi! It's an ecoresin called ResinCrete. I find it less durable than Jesmonite, but it's easy to work with and good for trays or molds that don't have small details that may break off.

      Hey! I’m so glad you found my channel and excited for you to start candle making! I purchased most of my molds from Aliexpress, Temu or Amazon depending on how fast I needed them. Molds from overseas tend to be more affordable so if you’re not in a rush, those are good places to look. I use freedom pillar wax for my molds :) Hope that helps!

    Will it start dissolving if it comes in contact with water many times And How do you seal wht kind of paint spray you use

    • @joolieshome
      @joolieshome 2 місяці тому

      Hi! That’s a good question. I don’t know if the wax dissolves with contact with water multiple times. I just wipe the tray down with a damp cloth and it doesn’t dissolve, but depending on how you maintain your piece, you may need to seal it again. I use Mod Podge Acrylic spray Sealer on some of my trays as well and that holds up pretty well. Thank you for watching :)

    I have a love/hate relationship with this mold. I use Hydrostone and the top (actually bottom) of the vessel is always thin. I then switched to Cement All and it's been a bit better. Your vessels are gorg!!!!

    • @joolieshome
      @joolieshome 2 місяці тому

      Thank you!! I love these vessels as well, the mold is great! I bought some fresh Jesmonite to try making them again. Oh, which part is thin? The pedestal base? I definitely want to try hydrostone as well, so that’s good to know. Do you recommend a good pigment for it?

    • @MisterWhatWhat
      @MisterWhatWhat 2 місяці тому

      @@joolieshome yes the pedestal part of the mold needs to be a bit thicker, but it's still a great mold. For Hydrostone I always use acrylic pouring paint, not too thin but not thick-like because if it's too thick it'll compromise the integrity of the vessel wall and crack during candle burning.

    • @joolieshome
      @joolieshome 2 місяці тому

      Great! Thanks for the info. I'll definitely look into acrylic pouring paint with hydrostone!

      Hi! I used a mix of yellow blue and red. I added a tiny amount of each colour into the liquid until I achieved the shade I wanted. I don’t remember the exact amount of each pigment, but add them one at a time and you should be able to build a nice beige colour!
